New Jersey Contractors’ Registration Act

The New Jersey Contractors’ Registration Act mandates that all Home Improvement Contractors be registered with the New Jersey Department of Consumer Affairs. Ensure that any contractor you hire is registered, licensed, and insured. Permits cannot be issued to contractors who are not registered with the State of New Jersey.

Contractor Responsibilities

All permit applications should include a copy of the contractor’s registration certificate. Homeowners can verify a contractor’s registration by visiting the Department of Consumer Affairs website or calling (888) 656-6225.

Important Note: Contractors are responsible for material disposal.
